LeNu Chef Wai’s Noodle Bar (VivoCity) – Taiwanese Noodles

My mother and I decided to have an impromptu movie date one day. I made my way to VivoCity after work and since it was still an hour before the movie starts, I decided to get some dinner. I found this new Taiwanese noodle restaurant called LeNu which can literally be translated into “Happy Cow”. When I realized that LeNu is a speciality restaurant under the Paradise Group, I decided without hesitation to dine here – I hold high regard for Paradise Group restaurants.

LeNu serves 2 types of soup bases: Braised Beef Broth and Signature Pork Bone Soup, with a variety of toppings. There are also Dry Noodles and a small selection of popular Taiwanese snacks.

Braised Beancurd (Warm) [$3.20] is a popular Taiwanese snack. I like that the tofu is very well-marinated and the tofu cubes are tender. They taste great with Chef Wai’s special homemade dipping sauce.

Long Jing Tea Lava Egg [$1.90] is the Taiwanese version of the Japanese tamago. Judging from the name, I would assume that it is made with Long Jing Tea leaves yet I can’t really taste the fragrance of the tea leaves in the egg at all, although the runny egg yolk is a little lighter in flavour

Braised beef noodles is an iconic dish in Taiwanese cuisine that is hugely popular in many countries. There are various topping combinations such as Braised Beef Shank Noodle [$13.50], Braised Beef Tendon and Shank Noodle [$14.50], Braised Marinated Beef Noodle [$11.50] but if you want to have a taste of everything, you should go for Braised Beef Combination Noodle (Wagyu Beef, Tendon, Shank) [$16.50] as I did. The beef slices, tendon and shank are melt-in-the-mouth tendons while the beef broth is flavorful and robust with beefy goodness thanks to 18 hours of cooking, usage of premium ingredients and the perfect blend of Chinese spices. My only lament is the noodles are a little too soft for my liking, Din Tai Fung’s Special Braised Beef Noodle Soup with Beef Brisket is still my favourite till date.
