Muffet’s Room

I chanced upon Muffet’s Room by pure chance. I was making my way to the MRT station when the words “Traditional Beer Battered Fish & Chips” caught my attention. I have never eaten beer-battered fish & chips and I have always wondered what’s so special about it.
There’s nothing spectacular about Muffet’s Room. The interior design is clean and simple, but this is probably one of the reasons I chose to dine here instead of other more well-known establishments. I like to discover humble  restaurants like Muffet’s Room. I take pride in my ability of finding hidden gems of restaurants.
This is their menu.
The condiment shelf is kind of cute.
Muffets’ Lemonade is supposed to be a refreshing drink, but I personally feel that it is too sweet. Lemonade are normally yellow – orange in colour, but this one’s a pale ivory colour which is interesting.
You can either have Traditional Beer Battered Fish & Chips as a main course where you will be served two pieces of fish fillet, or you can opt for Traditional Beer Battered Fish & Chips (Petite Cut) which is listed under Entrees. I opted for the lightweight version because I didn’t want to have a heavy dinner. To tell you the truth, I can’t really taste the difference between normal fish & chips and beer battered fish & chips, except the latter is not as oily. The handmade truffle fries that come with the fish & chips are a little soft but really delicious because I can taste the richness of the truffle oil in every bite. The house-made tartar sauce and salsa are a little runny but tastes so good when eaten with the truffle fries.
There was only one dessert available, Banana Fritters. Beer-battered banana pieces are fried to golden brown and drizzled with caramel sauce and a generous scoop of vanilla ice-cream sprinkled with cinnamon powder. The vanilla ice-cream is delicious, but the banana fritters are not sweet enough. The vanilla ice-cream totally overpowers the banana fritters when eaten together.
They have delivery service!
Not only do Muffet’s Room serve delicious Western Cuisine at very economical prices, they are a NO SERVICE CHARGE & NO GST restaurant. I am definitely coming back for more.
