Toasties – The Halal Version of Subway

I was in Clementi area when I was hit with a sudden craving for Korean fried chicken, so I checked online and there is a Vons Chicken which is located at 321 Clementi Avenue 3 but I was dismayed to find that it has already closed down.
I prowled the building, hoping to find a quirky little restaurant and that’s when I found Toasties. They have a Facebook page with quite a good number of followers and a well-designed website – I am sold.

I am sure you have realized by now that Toasties is basically the halal version of Subway. Even the steps are the same – first you choose your bread, then you choose the sandwich you want, choose your ingredients and your sauce and finally you can opt to have it as a meal with a drink and a side.

This was actually meant to be Salted Egg Yolk Katsu Sandwich but things got mixed-up along the way and I end up with this weird sandwich with chicken katsu, vegetables and my choice of sweet spicy mango sauce.

I was curious what Cheesy Franks mean and I got this small bowl of cut sausages with nachos cheese. The cheese itself is quite alright but the sausage franks are too plain and boring. I would suggest frying the franks for a crispier skin that adds more texture.

The only thing good about Toasties is that it is halal-certified, but the food and customer service definitely needs some brushing up.
You can order your food online and pick up your food from the outlet or you can order delivery from Foodpanda: https://www.foodpanda.sg/restaurant/ci7ne/toasties
