Located at the basement of Marina Square along the Marina Link is a cosy little restaurant called Olive Vine. Doctor Chong and my colleagues have lunch there regularly and they are full of praises. I decided to check it out for myself.
Olive Vine offers value-for-money Deluxe Set Meal and Executive Set Menu.
Everything is very neat and tidy at Olive Vine. After the recent rodent infestation at Hotpot Culture, Grade A from NEA assures the cleanliness of the food.
I really wanted to try the beef stew that Doctor Chong was raving about, which was in the Deluxe Set Menu, but I also wanted to try the carrot cake. The staff was very kind to let me top up $3 for the Executive Set Meal, so I got to have the best of both worlds.
Mushroom Soup tastes like watered down version of Campbell soup. You can’t really expect too much from a set meal.
Beef Stew (with choice of rice or bread) is surprisingly delicious. Chunks of tender beef cooked with potatoes and carrots. This is definitely one of the best beef stews I have tasted in a while, and at this price, it’s definitely a steal.
Carrot Cake looks very ordinary, but one bite into it and you will know the meaning of “don’t judge a book by its over”. It is soft and moist; it would have been perfect when topped with cream cheese.
I can definitely understand why Olive Vine is fast becoming a popular lunch spot for people working around the area. Friendly staff, better-than-average food, cosy ambience and value-for-money set meals makes this restaurant the perfect place to have a quick lunch. Better still, there is No GST and Service Charge,
Olive Vine
