Cafe-Hopping: ButterScotch

After our first cafe-hopping experience (where we went to Waffle Slayer, Spatula Bakery and The Royals Cafe), Mariem and I have become addicted to cafe-hopping. Today we went on our second round of cafe-hopping.

Third stop, ButterScotch.

ButterScotch is a new cafe in Bukit Merah Central. It started operation on 7 September 2013. Although it is not halal-certified, but the owner of ButterScotch is a Muslim and there are no non-halal ingredient or alcohol in any of their dishes. Mariem has been following them on Instagram and she especially requested that I work this into our route, so here we are.

Please take a look at the menu.
The table decoration is so cute, I couldn’t help but take a picture.
Our drinks arrived first.

After having two Hot Chocolates in one day, I decided to have something a little more refreshing so I went for Mango Mix Craneberry Juice With Peppermint Leaves. It is refreshing, but a little too sweet.

I prefer Mariem’s Ice Lemon Tea. The honey and lemon are equally proportioned and it does not have the puckery taste that most ice lemon teas have.
Mariem is not very adventurous when it comes to food so she ordered Chicken Chop With Eggs. The chicken chop is tender and tastes so good with the homemade mushroom sauce. The two sunny side-ups are perfect – slightly browned at the bottom and runny on top.

The name of the dish excites me. Ramly Meets Wendy Burger, can you imagine what will happen when the two most-famous burgers join hands, what an impressive concoction it will be? However, I am a little disappointed. The burger buns are very dry, the omelette that wraps the beef patty looks and tastes like a piece of yellow paper, and the beef patty is a little dry.
This is the third time I am eating churros. First was Churriosity where I learned about its existence. Second was Craftsmen Speciality Cafe where I had Cinnamon Churros with Ice-cream. The Churros served here is overly sweet, I don’t really like it, but Mariem seems to be relishing it.

Butterscotch Souffle is one of the cafe’s signature dessert. Souffle is a lightly-baked French dessert that is the the combination of egg yolk and beaten egg whites. I have not been exposed to enough souffles to comment how good it is, but I think it is perfect. It is sweet and soft, and very light. It is served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce. I really don’t think there is a need for the chocolate sauce because it is perfect as it is. The vanilla ice-cream is a nice addition, the contrast of hot and cold is delightful on the tongue.
