I have been to quite a few buffets around Singapore, but they are mostly in town area. Making up for the lack of a good buffet in the East is Feast Asia in Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy.
Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy is very easily-accessible via Marine Parade station right outside the hotel.
Feast Asia is located on level 3 of Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel. The interior is modern and brightly-lit.
I always start any buffet with the Seafood on Ice. The lunch buffet has poached prawns, mussels, scallops as well as freshly-shucked Hyogo oysters and crayfish for dinner buffet.
The chef at the Sashimi and Sushi counter expertly cuts and dishes out thick cuts of salmon, tuna, octopus, surf clams and swordfish.
Live stations are always the star of any buffet. Roxy Satay was very popular, the chicken and mutton satay are snatched up the moment they are put out.
Signature Laksa from the Noodle Bar is pungent with coconut milk and spicy curry.
Out of the cooked dishes, the dish that really stood out was the Fried Oyster Omelette. The oysters were huge and fresh while the batter is gooey with crispy edges.
Signature Durian Pengat is so pungent, it’s almost like a non-messy way of eating the King of Fruits. Besides the durian pengat and bubur cha cha, there is an impressive array of mini cakes and mousse cups. There is also ice-cream.
Even though Feast Asia specializes on Asian cuisine with a smaller spread than other buffets such as RISE Restaurant and The Line Restaurant, it more than make up for it with excellent dishes and affordable prices. Lunch buffet is S$42++ on weekdays and S$52++ on weekends while dinner buffet is S$58++ on weekdays and S$72++ on weekends.
