Sunset Way is a hidden food paradise near Clementi. Chin Huat Live Seafood is every bit as good as my colleague made it out to be and that same colleague recently brought us to the newly-opened Mariner’s Corner.
From the navy blue signboard and swordfish logo to the name of the restaurant, it’s not difficult to guess that this is a maritime-themed restaurant. It reminds me of The Ship Restaurant, with the same old-world charms.
This family-owned restaurant has been around since 1984 which means it has been around for 40 years!
What to order
This is a collage of Mariners’ Corner menu for you reference. You can find the individual pages here.
Hainanese Pork Chop [S$20.50] is one of the signature dishes and it’s not difficult to see why. The pork cutlet is crackling-crispy topped with a generous douse of tomato and worscestershire sauce, the tangy sauce helps to neutralize the oiliness of the pork chop.
Garlic Prawn with Chicken Chop [S$26.50] gives you the best of both worlds. The prawns are spread open and baked with garlic butter sauce which make them taste terrific.
Seafood Platter [S$22.50] is sinfully unhealthy with all the deep-fried fish, prawns, mussels and calamari which is excellent when eaten with tartar sauce.
You can add S$5.80 to any main course ordered to enjoy a bowl of Salad & Soup Of The Day, Garlic Bread, Coffee/Tea & Dessert.
