Tomi Sushi was founded in Niigata in 1954 and has since opened 14 outlets in Japan.
Singapore is Tomi Sushi’s first overseas expansion with a total of 4 outlets at Millenia Walk, Novena Square (Velocity), Katong V and Cuppage Terrace.
Tomi Sushi’s dedication to giving Singaporeans the best dining experience can be seen in the insistence of using 100% Niigata Koshihkari (the best brand of rice in Japan), salt from “the Sea of Japan” and traditionally brewed soy sauce, all of which are specially flown in from Japan.
I wanted to try their sushi, so I ordered the Nigiri Sakura set which comes with tori karrage, chawanmushi, fresh fruits, seasonal salad, miso soup and handmade sushi. The sushi includes (from left to right) Salmon (Sake), Yellowtail (Hamachi), Tuna (Maguro), Squid (Ika), Flounder (Hirami), Shrimp (Ebi), Salmon Roe (Maguro) and Egg (Tamago). The sushi are freshly-made upon order, you can feel the warmth in your mouth, the ingredients are fresh and they are best eaten whole.
Tomi Sushi is a whole new level from conveyer-belt sushi such as Genki Sushi and Sushi Express. The prices are definitely steeper but you can assured you are getting the best and freshest produce that makes it worth every dime.
