I was roaming in Lucky Plaza one day, looking for good food when I spotted this standalone stall selling fish soup. I always believe that if a stall can become its own business, they must be doing something right.
Alfa Cafe primarily sells fish soup. There are 4 mains – Sliced Fish Soup, Fried Fish Soup, Fish Head Soup and Mixed Fish Soup.
You can add rice/thick bee hoon/thin bee hoon/kway teow/claypot mee/mee hoon kway/mee sua/instant noodles at $0.70 each.
You can also opt to add extra ingredients such as additional fish ($2), tom yam/milk ($0.50), bitter gourd ($0.50), pig liver ($1) and fish ball ($1).
I ordered their Mixed Fish Soup [$6] with additional milk (+$0.50). The broth is very flavorful and the additional milk gives it a slight creaminess. The sliced fish does not have that weird artificial taste so I believe the fish were freshly-cut and not soaked in alkaline water. The fried fish are lightly coated with batter and fried, the outer coat remains crispy even after being soaked in the soup.
Besides fish soup, Alfa Cafe also serves breakfast from 7am – 11.30am. There are Alfa Burger, Chicken Porridge, Traditional Breakfast, Chee Cheong Fun, Steamed Yam Cake and Steamed Buns.
There are only 3 seats available at Alfa Cafe. You can also eat at #01-90 two shops away.
