I was telling my friend the other day that my favorite beef noodle is Din Tai Fung’s Special Braised Beef Noodle Soup. He insisted that Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow is the best beef noodle in Singapore. I made a special trip to this restaurant in Raffles Place to see if it is really that great.
The Raffles Place outlet is pretty easy to find. From Raffles Place MRT Exit G, walk past UOB Plaza towers and go straight ahead. It is on the other side of Boat Quay, along the main road.
The Food
This is Authentic Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow’s menu which features beef noodles with a variety of combinations of beef ingredients and a few side dishes.
You can choose your choice of noodles – kway teow, thick bee hoon, yellow noodle and white rice.
I ordered Supreme Mix with Tendon [Regular S$10.50, Large S$11.50] and kway teow. This has all the ingredients – beef balls, beef stomach, beef slices and beef tendon. The soup is thick with rich beefy flavor from boiling beef bones over long hours.
It’s definitely slurp-worthy, but at S$10.50 per bowl, it is a little expensive for everyday consumption.
If you are lazy to go down physically, you can also order here.
