Cafe-Hopping: Penny University

After our first cafe-hopping experience (where we went to Waffle Slayer, Spatula Bakery and The Royals Cafe), Mariem and I have become addicted to cafe-hopping. Today we went on our second round of cafe-hopping.

First stop, Penny University.

This is the reason why this cafe is named Penny University.
True to its name, the interior of the cafe is decorated with shelves showcasing things you will find in an unversity. Even the table number is made using paper cups. They are so cute, aren’t they?
For drinks, I had my favourite Hot Chocolate. The cup looks small, but it is very chocolatey.
Iced Chocolate is not as chocolatey, but still a delicious drink.
Full English Breakfast consists of eggs (scrambled, sunny side-up or poached), two sausages, turkey bacon, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, thick toast and hash brown. The sausages were really salty and the sauteed mushrooms are just normal. Turkey bacon was something different from the regular bacon served in most other places, it was pan-fried nicely but still soft and it tasted terrific when eaten together with thick toast and scrambled egg although the scrambled eggs were a little runny. Hashbrown is crispy and there is nothing I can really say about the baked beans because it is obviously from a can.

It is exactly what its name says it is, Scrambled Eggs On Toast. The side salad was a nice addition, both for health and presentation of the dish.

Everything looks so tempting at the cake display, I wanted a piece of everything.
I settled for a piece of Peanut Butter Jelly Cake. I chose this cake because it reminds me of the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches my Mum used to make for me when I was a child. It tasted exactly like what it was like in my memory. The jelly in between the layers are not very sweet and the peanut butter is so smooth and creamy. This cake would have been perfect if the sponge cake is slightly more moist.
I am sure you have heard of the ice-cream sandwiches from The Ice Cream & Cookie Co. They are available at Penny University!

This is the Milk & Cookies flavour. Vanilla bean ice-cream is sandwiched between two 74% dark chocolate chip cookies. The blueberries and strawberry gives the much-needed tanginess to balance out the dish.

PB Cheesecake is cheesecake ice-cream sandwiched between two peanut butter cookies. Both the cheesecake ice-cream and peanut butter cookies are too sweet, even the blueberries and strawberry are not able to redeem the dish.
