Honolulu Cafe (Westgate) - Honolulu Egg Tart
Honolulu egg tarts have been voted as one of Hong Kong’s best egg tarts by locals and tourists alike, but I was not very impressed with the egg tart I had at Honolulu Cafe (Centerpoint Mall).

Honolulu Cafe (Westgate)
Honolulu Cafe has opened a new outlet at Westgate to cater to the people living in the West. I decided to give it another shot and give it the benefit of doubt.

Besides egg tarts, Honolulu Cafe also serves many Hong Kong cha chaan teng foods, categorised into Baked Goods, Toasts, Snacks, Sandwiches, Instant Noodles, Main Courses and Curry Specials. There are also Breakfast Sets.
Honolulu Cafe (Westgate) - Curry Rice
Curry Rice (Pork Chop/Chicken/Fish Fillet/Beef Brisket/Luncheon Meat/Egg and Sausage) [$8.50] is a Hong Kong speciality that is not as well-known. I opted for the beef brisket, which turned out to be as tough as leather. The curry itself is very authentic, but it is a little too oily for me.
Honolulu Cafe (Westgate) - Curry Fish Ball
Curry Fish Ball [$3 for 5 Pieces] is a snack that is very popular in Hong Kong and it can be found in stores all across the country. Fish balls are served with a thick curry sauce that is both spicy and fragrant.
Honolulu Cafe (Westgate) - Honolulu Egg Tart
This is Honolulu’s signature Honolulu Egg Tart [$1.90]. It tasted slightly better than the one I had at Honolulu Cafe (Centrepoint) but I personally still prefer Tai Cheong Bakery (Holland Village)’s Egg Tart for the buttery -crumbly crust and silky-smooth egg custard.
Honolulu Cafe (Westgate) - Milk Tea
Milk Tea [$3 for Hot, $3.20 for Cold] is the most iconic drink in Hong Kong. Hong Kong milk tea is stronger than Singapore’s milk tea because the Hong Kong version uses black tea.

Personally, Honolulu Cafe (Westgate) is alright for a quick meal or to satisfy cravings for Hong Kong cha chaan teng fare, but my favourite Hong Kong egg tart is still Tai Cheong Bakery (Holland Village).

Do you agree with me? Do you like Honolulu Cafe or Tai Cheong Bakery’s egg tart better? Please tell me in the comments!
