Suntec City’s exorbitant rental makes it very hard for small establishments to stay alive and Pack’d is one such case.
Pack’d has closed down after just a few months of operation. The space has been idle for a few months now and it has been recently taken over by Just Dough, a cafe-style restaurant that specializes in Chinese-style steamed buns and mantou.
There are 10 different types of savory and sweet baos to choose from, some of them have very pretty designs.
The restaurant serves four types of soups to go with the delicious steamed buns. Each bowl of soup comes with a steamed mantou, so don’t over-order like I did.
The soups seem a little expensive at first, but it is fully justified with chockful of ingredients. Take this Potato Clam Chowder Soup for example. There are at least 10 clams in here, all thoroughly cooked and chewy-tender, accompanied by potato cubes and vegetables.
I have bought the steamed buns a couple of times and Cheesy Chicken is one of my favorites. Shredded chicken and savory cheese are sealed in a warm and fluffy bun.
If you want something sweet, I recommend Sweet Potato. Purple sweet potato mash is encased in light green and dark green bun, decorated with a half a walnut.
You can buy these baos and mantou back for a delicious meal. Just heat them up for 10 minutes and you are good to go.
Just Dough is a neat little place that serves up creative buns and mantou that are not only pleasing to the eyes, but healthy and delicious as well. All bun colors are derived from juice and natural sources so there is absolutely no need to worry.
