Outback Steakhouse is an Australian-inspired steakhouse chain with outlets in many countries. Besides serving steaks, there is also a good selection of chicken, ribs, seafood and pasta options that is wallet-friendly.
I have been to Outback Steakhouse a few times before and I have been impressed with the quality of the food so far, I was delighted when I learnt about the 1-for-1 lunch promotion. Let’s go and check out this fabulous deal!
I have been to Outback Steakhouse a couple of times and the breadboard never fails to impress me. The soft wheat bread is aromatic and warm to the touch, and it tastes heavenly with the butter that Outback Steakhouse churn themselves. I wanted to buy a bottle of that luxurious butter but I was told that it is not available for sale.
Soup of the Day was Mushroom Soup. It tastes like Campbell Soup, only saltier. I almost gagged trying to force that down my throat.
Eating salad doesn’t have to be boring anymore when there is Shrimp, Salmon, Chicken or Steak Caesar Salad. The one shown here is Salmon Steak Salad where a piece of grilled salmon fillet sits on top of a bed of fresh salad.
Brick Chicken is well-seasoned and the savory lemon garlic sauce perks up the taste bud with the slight tanginess. However, the chicken is rather dry and the mashed potatoes taste as if it was dunked in salted before serving.
I ordered a medium-rare Outback Special and this is what I get: an almost raw piece of steak that is burnt on the top (it is so tough I could hardly cut the meat) while the other side is oozing blood like nobody’s problem. I have to say that the steak is very juicy, maybe a little too juicy.
Apparently there was a mix-up in the kitchen and we ended up waiting for more than 40 minutes before our food arrived. The staff was very apologetic about the long wait and she waived off our charges so we literally dined for free, but that does not make up for the horrible quality of food. I personally feel that this 1-for-1 promotion will only spell disaster for Outback Steakhouse. The restaurant is obviously ill-equipped in handling such a massive influx of customers with limited staff and cooks.
Although I am totally and utterly horrified by this dining experience, I fully believe in Outback Steakhouse’s quality of food and I will still patronize the restaurant, but I will avoid going during lunch hour or when there is a promotion.
