Rocky Masters (Bugis)

I have passed by this cafe numerous times, but I have always thought it is a up-scale cafe because the exterior looks very posh. When I finally mustered up the courage to walk through the door, I was surprised to find a menu that consists of both Western fare and local delights.

Chamomile Tea

American Breakfast consists of chicken ham, chipolata (sausage), bacon, scrambled eggs (choice of fried or scrambled), grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, hash brown and toast. It is definitely not the best American breakfast I have had: sautéed mushroom taste more like boiled mushrooms, tomato is not grilled. My favourite way of enjoying scrambled egg? Spread a thick layer of butter (noted that I say butter, not margarine) and pile on the scrambled eggs. It is divine. 

Banana Cake looks kind of plain but as the saying goes, “looks can be be deceiving”. The cake is super soft and moist, every mouthful filled with the detectable aroma of banana. This is just about the best banana cake I have ever eaten.

Rocky Masters is a humble little eatery that serves humble food despite its posh exterior. Come here expecting delicious food and hospitable service. Situated directly opposite the National Library, it is the perfect place for a bite after a long day of mugging.
