I have heard so much about the Seasonal Tastes restaurant in The Westin hotel. They regularly hold themed buffets and this time it’s called The Great Thai Seafood Dinner Buffet.
It’s been a long while since I have last had a good buffet, I was really looking forward to having a Thai seafood feast.
Since we were at a seafood buffet, the first stop is definitely going to be Seafood on Ice. You can get your fill of scallops, black mussels, Canadian lobster claws and prawns, all cooked and kept on ice to keep fresh. There are also freshly-shucked Canadian and French oysters, perfect with some Tabasco sauce and a squeeze of lemon.
Besides the mandatory salmon and tuna sashimi, there is also cured salmon belly which has a rich flavor. There is a small display of assorted sushi, but nothing interesting.
Right besides the Seafood on Ice is a giant metal plate that serves Chef Pop’s Signature Lobster Pad Thai. The pad thai itself is nothing to rave about but the addition of Canadian lobster immediately makes the dish fancy.
I really enjoyed the calamari, prawn and pork Thai barbecue skewers from the Carving Station. Grilled Thai Marinated Beef Tomahawk and Baked Salted Crusted Barramundi are interesting even though the fish was slightly dry.
There are 4 live stations where you can get Pad Thai, Thai Boat Noodle, Tom Yum/Tom Kha and Som Tum Mamuang cooked for you on the spot.
The Great Thai Seafood Dinner Buffet offers different types of desserts, so there is something for everyone. It was fun experimenting with the chocolate fountain but I wished they had fruits instead of candies and mini muffins which will help to balance out the sweetness of the chocolate.
