Seoul Noodle Shop – Korean Knife Cut Noodles

There’s a long queue at Seoul Noodle Shop in Suntec City Mall every time I pass by and it piqued my curiosity. What’s so special about this restaurant that makes so many people willing to queue for hours?

Seoul Noodle Shop - Restaurant Fr

I decided to try my luck at Seoul Noodle Shop’s flagship restaurant in Tanjong Pagar. It wasn’t as packed even during dinner time.

The Food

Seoul Noodle Shop - Menu

In case you are wondering, Seoul Noodle Shop specializes in knife-cut noodles. They also serve rice soup as well as side dishes.

Seoul Noodle Shop - Half Cicken Noodles

I can’t eat spicy food so I ordered Half Chicken Noodles [S$18.50]. The broth is flavorful but I find the noodles a little too floury and not chewy enough. There really is half a chicken on top of the noodles, but it’s a tad difficult to eat it with spoon and chopsticks.

Seoul Noodle Shop - Busan Gukbap

One of the rice soup option is Busan Gukbap [S$18.50]. The soup itself is pretty mild-tasting, you can add in the accompanying shrimp and chili sauce. There is also a small bowl of barley rice, kimchi and pickled radish.

Seoul Noodle Shop - Mul Naengyeon

Mul Naengyeon [S$16.50] or Korean cold noodles, is perfect for Singapore’s tropical weather. The broth is a milder version of Dong Bei Xiao Chu’s Cold Noodle. It’s not as sweet and sour, but the coldness of the chewy noodles is so refreshing. You can also add S$3 for 2 pieces of Chives Mandu or Kimchi Mandu.

Seoul Noodle Shop - Boiled Pork Jowl

I like that the Boiled Pork Jowl [S$19.90] are slightly grilled before being sliced and served. Best eaten with the accompanying garlic, green chili, fermented shrimp and/or chili paste.

Seoul Noodle Shop - Seafood Pancake

The Seafood Pancake [S$24.50] is one of the best I have eaten in Singapore. It is so full of vegetables and seafood pieces, every bite is a joy. It’s a little oily which can be washed down with the broths from the noodles or rice soup.

Seoul Noodle Shop - Chives Mandu

You have a choice of kimchi or chives Mandu [S$3.90]. I personally prefer the chives mandu which are more mild-tasting and stuffed full with vegetables.
