I have been craving for some taiyaki, the fish-shaped Japanese snack. When I passed by Tai-Croissant at the basement of Clementi Mall, I couldn’t resist getting some.
Tai-Croissant originated in Taiwan in 2015 and it came to Singapore in 2018.
Tai-Croissant specializes in taiyaki with croissant skin. There are 13 sweet and savory flavors to choose from, wrapped in more than 80 layers of crispy croissant pastry.
I tried Hokkaido Custard, Okinawa Mochi, Matcha Red Bean and Chicken Ham & Cheese. My favorite is the Okinawa Mochi where the mochi gives the taiyaki a special chewiness.
I like the fusion of taiyaki with croissant because croissant’s flaky buttery pastry gives this classic Japanese snack a crunchy texture. The sugar coating on the outside gives the croissant pastry an extra crispness while maintaining tenderness of the fillings within.
Tai-Croissant also sells drinks to compliment your taiyaki-croissant. There is even Brown Sugar Bubble Milk.
