Golden Mile Banh Mi – Vietnamese Baguettes and Spring Rolls

Golden Mile Banh Mi - Stall Front

I have been eyeing this stall outside the Thai Supermarket on level 2 of Golden Mile Complex. Golden Mile Banh Mi specializes in the Vietnamese baguette called banh mi.

Local Singaporeans affectionately call Golden Mile Complex “Little Thailand” because almost all the shops and restaurants in there are all Thai. I was surprised to find Vietnamese food in a predominantly-Thai complex, but who cares as long as the food is good.

Let’s see if Golden Mile Banh Mi’s banh mi is good as Banh Mi Huynh Hoa I had in Ho Chih Min.

Golden Mile Banh Mi - Menu

Golden Mile Banh Mi sells Vietnamese baguette (banh mi), Vietnamese spring rolls (goi cuon) and beverages (nuoc).

Golden Mile Banh Mi - Banh Mi Thit

I was only interested in the banh mi so I got the classic Banh Mi Thit (Ham & Meat Sandwich) [S$5.90]. The crispy baguette is cut open and smeared with duck liver. The petit lady manning the stall deftly stuffs in pieces of meat, ham and vegetables. The finishing touch is a dash of their homemade special sauce and the banh mi is ready.

Golden Mile Banh Mi - Banh Mi Thit Inside

It is not as nice as the banh mi I had in Ho Chih Min, but still quite tasty. The savory special sauce really elevates the taste of the whole banh mi.

The recommended banh mi is Banh Mi Dac Biet (Special Banh Mi) [S$6.50] with meat balls. I will definitely give it a try the next time I am back and the Vietnamese spring rolls look mighty good too.
