Guan Heng Cooked Food – Satay Bee Hoon in Chong Pang

You will never find a dish called satay bee hoon outside of Singapore, this is a Singapore fusion dish through and through.

Satay bee hoon is fusion of Malay or Javanese cuisine with Teochew cuisine.

Guan Heng Cooked Food - Stall Front

Guan Heng Cooked Food in Chong Pang City Wet Market & Food Centre is one of the hawker stalls that sells satay bee hoon.

There are two sizes, S$4 and S$5.

Satay bee hoon is an intoxicating dish of rice vermicelli, cuttlefish, fried beancurd puffs, cockles and kang kong topped with chilli-based peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is only slightly spicy and it is similar to the peanut sauce used in rojak.

The distinguishing factor in satay been hoon is the peanut sauce. Guan Heng Cooked Food’s peanut sauce is thick and has just the right balance of spiciness and sweetness. Combined with the rest of the ingredients, it is so slurp-worthy I almost licked the plate. Almost.
