Way before Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle made it into the Michelin Guide Singapore, this bak chor mee stall has already been featured in various newspapers in Singapore.
The queue is about 1 hour before Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle got into the Michelin Guide Singapore, now be prepared to wait at least 2-3 hours, especially during lunch and dinner hours and on weekends.
Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle only sells the following items: 炸扁鱼 Zha Bian Yu (Fried Flat Fish), 粿条汤 Guo Tiao Tang (Rice Noodles in Soup), 干面 Gan Mian (Dry Noodles), 紫菜汤 Zi Cai Tang (Seaweed Soup), 肉丸汤 Rou Wan Tang (Pork Balls Soup).
The famous Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle is available in 3 serving sizes: Regular ($6), Medium ($8) and Large ($10), additional ingredients are charged separately.
I got myself the Large serving of Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle and I honestly don’t see why everyone loves this bak chor mee so much. Granted, the noodles are cooked just right so they are springy with a good bite and there is a generous amount of sliced pork, pork liver, pork balls and crispy salted fish, served with pungent vinegar but I will expect no less for a $10 bowl of bak chor mee which is really the most expensive bak chor mee I have ever eaten.
My conclusion is that Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle is nice but it is rather pricey. If you really want to try Michelin Guide endorsed food without burning a hole in your pocket, Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle is a good place to start.
