Lucky Plaza may be known as “Little Philippines” to many Singaporeans, but there is much more than just Philippines shops and restaurants. There are Indonesian restaurants (Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut and Ayam Penyet Ria) and I recently discovered a Korean fried chicken restaurant.
Otoke Chicken is located at the entrance of Asian Food Mall in the basement of Lucky Plaza.
Otoke is a popular fast-food chain in Vietnam and it is one of the newest halal-certified Korean fried chicken restaurant in Orchard Road.
Besides Korean fried chicken and chicken burger, Otoke Chicken also has rice sets during lunch hour.
Special Sauce Fried Chicken Drumstick / Wing [Combo S$7.90 – S$22.70, A La Carte S$6.40 – S$16.4] comes in 3 flavors: Spicy, Soy Garlic or Black Pepper. The chicken is tender and juicy and the soy garlic sauce that I chose has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness.
There is a choice of Cheese or Seaweed for the Shaked French Fries [Small S$2.80, Regular S$3.50]. I chose the cheese flavor because the seaweed version sounds too much like McDonald’s Seaweed Shaker Fries. Instead of melted cheese on top of the fries like KFC’s cheese fries, the fries here are coated with cheese-flavored powder. The taste reminds me of the snack Cheese Balls.
Chicken Burger & Kimchi [A La Carte S$6.90, Combo S$8.40] is surprisingly tasty. The kimchi gives a nice burst of sourness to the otherwise boring chicken burger. It is a little messy to eat as the ingredients keeps oozing out.
Even though Otoke Chicken’s fried chicken are the same as other Korean fried chicken, at least the prices are wallet-friendly. Plus, it is halal-certified so Muslim friends can enjoy Korean fried chicken too. Otoke Chicken is available for delivery and pickup by GrabFood.
