My boss knows how much of a foodie I am, so he included PUTIEN vouchers in the hongbao he gave me for Chinese New Year. I have been to PUTIEN in June 2023 and I liked the food there so I was more than willing to revisit PUTIEN.
The Food
PUTIEN Bian Rou Soup [S$4.80] is like the putien version of wanton. The dumplings are tiny with morsels of meat in silky dumpling skin. They are easy to eat, perfect at start of the meal to whet the appetite.
‘100-Second’ Stewed Yellow Croaker [S$16] is one of PUTIEN’s signature dishes. They use fresh small yellow croakers which ensures tender meat.
Braised Pork Trotter and Abalone [S$44.80] gives you the best of both worlds of meat and seafood. The pork trotters and abalone are both tender and juicy thanks to the aromatic braising juice.
It’s nice to change up the regular kailan with Stir-Fried Kailan with Bean Curd Skin [Regular S$16.80, Medium S$25.20]. The kailan is crispy while the bean curd skin is perfect for soaking up all the delicious juices.
Double-Boiled Pear with Osmanthus and Aged Mandarin Peel [S$7.80] is a classic Chinese dessert recipe and perfect for those who are having cough or sore throat.
A more sinful dessert is Deep-Fried Durian Puree [S$7.80]. The rich and creamy durian puree is encased in a crispy puff which gives such a satisfying crunch.
