It has been more than a year since Shake Shack’s first restaurant opened at Jewel Changi Airport. Shake Shack shows no sign of stopping and it has since opened 4 new outlets around Singapore.
I have been wanting to try out Shake Shack but the long travel distance and even longer queues kept me away. Shake Shack’s newest outlet VivoCity is not too far for me and the queue is manageable so I am finally going to try Shake Shack for myself.
ShackBurger [Single S$9.20, Double s$12.70] is Shake Shack’s signature burger. The 100% all-natural Angus beef patty that everyone swears by is indeed juicy and tender. The brioche buns are so soft and tender, they are good enough to eat on their own. Lettuce, tomato and the secret ShakeSauce completes the burger.
Since Shake Shack started off as a hot dog stand, it feels only right to order a Shack-cago Dog [S$6.50]. The grilled hot dog is sandwiched in a hot dog bun and topped with onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper and celery salt. Tomato sauce and mustard is served on the side in small plastic containers. This is a whole new hotdog experience, all the different flavors burst in your mouth at once.
I am not a fan of the Crinkle-Cut Fries [S$4.50]. It’s too thick and heavy, maybe Cheese Fries [S$5.90] might have been a better option. Can we have shoe-string fries in Singapore outlets?
Drink-wise, there’s not much option at Shake Shack. I ordered Fifty/Fifty [Small S$4.30, Large S$5.30] because the name sounds fun. It is half lemonade and half organic iced tea but it just tastes like iced lemon tea to me.
Besides burgers and hotdogs, Shake Shack is also famous for its frozen custards. I got Shake Shack’s signature Shack Attack [Single S$7.50, Double S$9.50]. This is a chocolate-lover’s dream dessert. It is chocolate custard blended with plain vanilla brownie, Shack fudge sauce, Lemuel chocolate chunks and chocolate sprinkles. I especially love the chocolate chunks which gives the dessert some crunch.
I am not sure about the other 4 outlets, but the Shake Shack (VivoCity) has this automatic hand wash machine. You just have to stick your hands in and the machine dispenses water, soap and hand towel automatically. I think that is so cool! No more wrestling with the water tap with greasy hands.
This is my first Shake Shack experience and I am loving it so far! There are 5 Shake Shack outlets in Singapore, I shall try out the different items on the menu at different outlets. Stay tuned!
