Meet 4 Meat – Cheapest Beef Wellington in Singapore

Meet 4 Meat - Stall FrontA friend recently recommended Meet 4 Meat for the cheapest Beef Wellington in Singapore.

Beef Wellington is a classic English dish, named after Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington. Beef Wellington has always been an expensive dish as it uses tenderloin, the tenderest and costliest cut of beef.

I have never had beef wellington before so I made a trip to Meet 4 Meat to try their beef wellington.

Location

Meet 4 Meat - Brunners CoffeeshopMeet 4 Meat is one of the stalls in Brunners Coffeeshop, a coffeeshop along East Coast Road. It’s a little hard to find, you will have walk 30 minutes from the nearest Eunos MRT station.

The Food

Meet 4 Meat - MenuThis is the revamped menu. Sadly, quite a few of the dishes that I wanted to try are no longer available.

Meet 4 Meat - Beef WellingtonThis is their signature Beef Wellington [S$35] where 180g of Australian tenderloin is wrapped in mushroom duxelle and puff pastry. Meet for Meat does their beef wellington in individual buns to better control the temperature.

Meet 4 Meat - Beef Wellington InsideThis is actually my first time trying beef wellington so I can’t tell how authentic it is but it sure taste good to me. The beef inside is medium-rare with a pink centre, exactly how I like my beef done. The beef is perfectly tender while the surrounding mushroom duxelle and puff pastry are more like garnishes.

Meet 4 Meat - Burger WellingtonThere is a cheaper version of beef wellington called Burger Wellington [S$18] where 200g of patty is wrapped with smoked cheddar cheese and puff pastry. The beef patty is not too finely minced so there is plenty of bite to the meat. The smoked cheddar cheese works so well with the beef patty while the puff pastry holds everything together.

Meet 4 Meat - Mini Duck WellingtonUnless you really love to eat duck, I won’t recommend Mini Duck Wellington [S$15]. The duck meat is dry and the gamey smell of the duck ruins the whole thing.

Meet 4 Meat - Tiger Prawn RollI totally enjoyed Tiger Prawn Roll [S$12 for 5 pieces]. Chopped prawn and fish paste are wrapped in light beancurd skin and deep-fried till a beautiful golden color. The sweetness from the prawns works well with the soft fish paste which gives you loads of unami flavor.
